In traditional Chinese medicine there are five seasons instead of four. The fifth season after summer is called Late Harvest or Late Summer and is seen as a transition time where we return to the middle between the expansive growth of spring and summer (yang energy) and the more inward energy of fall and winter (yin energy). It is a pause between the rising elements of Wood and Fire, and the descending elements of metal and water. It is the energy of Earth - Mother Earth. It is the middle between intense heat and cold weather and a preparation for winter time. Many people will say with sadness that Summer is over. But follow the sun wherever you go and the love, light, and warmth will travel with you in your heart!
