Labyrinth
“With a labyrinth, you make a choice to go in - and once you have chosen,
around and around you go.
But you always find your way to the center”
- Jeff Bridges -
A labyrinth is a tool that can be used for different purposes. I make small finger versions of an ordinary labyrinth that you can walk somewhere in nature. You have different forms, but I chose the Chakra-vyuha (from India) because it represents the way of initiation and meeting yourself in the center. Unlike a classic labyrinth, this one ends in a spiral shape, which represents the other side of you. I also made this vyuha on the Yggdrasil shamanic drum.
A labyrinth is different from a maze where you can get stuck, because a labyrinth automatically leads you in and out again. That is why it is often seen as a tool to get closer to your own core and to clarify issues. It is also often used in coaching sessions and is a lot of fun for children as well, because they can see and feel the lines.
Walking two mirrored labyrinths simultaneously ensures synchronization between the left and right hemispheres of the brain and trains eye/hand coordination. It is often milled into a piece of wood, where children can follow the road with their finger or, for example, with a marble and thus also train dexterity.
I use high quality rope for the creation of the labyrinth, so that you can feel with your fingers where you are going. The advantage of this is that you can “walk“ the labyrinth with closed eyes and therefore it is very helpful in meditation. It can also be used in combination with crystals and gem stones.
This tool is available on request and custom made. I can use animal skin (for example rabbit like the pictures, or bigger like sheep skin) or synthetic fur. Both versions are flexible and can be rolled up after usage and taken with you everywhere. Send me a message for more information.
