Celtic tree of life inspired design featuring text in runes (as above, so below; as within, so without; as the universe, so the soul). 

 

The black and brown tree resembles the upper world (heaven), the borderline between black and white in the middle where the woman seeks her way with a lantern stands for the world we live in daily, and the white/yellow tree (negative projection of black and brown) stands for the under world. In the middle you can look inside the tree, resembling the way inside yourself, where a labyrinth (Chakra-vyuha ending in a spiral: the way of initiation and meeting the other side of your inner self in the centre) is leading the way to the middle from where stairs go either up to heaven or down to the chambers of undiscovered pasts. 

 

The two trees make the number 3 in the middle, fitting together with the triskele in the full moon, which represents a tale of forward motion (motion signify energies) to reach understanding and each leg stands for the 3 worlds: the present physical realm; the spirit world of our ancestors; and the celestial world of the sun, moon, stars and planets. It can also be seen as the 3 unities in humans itself:

Annwn - underworld with cosmic symbol of the moon

Antes - level of ordeal and physical existence; cosmic symbol of earth

Gwynvyd - fully unfolded mind, state of love; cosmic symbol the sun.

 

Because the celestial world contains the moon and the cosmic symbol of the underworld is the moon, I included the 16 phases of the moon cycle, which is again also motion. The new moon below the underworld has the Vegvisir symbol ( Icelandic way finder). If this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known. I believe it can also help you find your way back from the underworld to the physical world.

 

A mallet made with a bone of a wild boar containing the three runes Algiz, Eihwaz and Hagalaz is included.
